With a Steelers loss, the Bengals have a slight chance of making the playoffs

In the coldest game of Joe Burrow's era, the Bengals froze the Steelers with overwhelming time of possession and a defense that didn't allow the Steelers 100 yards until 10 minutes left in a 19-17 victory.

With a wind-chill of seven, Pro Bowl right end Trey Hendrickson surged into the NFL sack lead with 3.5, while Pro Bowl wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase caught an NFL-leading 43rd touchdown pass from quarterback Joe Burrow.   The Bengals scored only one touchdown despite four trips into the red zone.  Cade York made four field goals.

The Steelers offense failed to accumulate 200 yards, as its struggles continue heading into the playoffs.  Wilson passed for 148 yards and a touchdown, both coming during the fourth quarter when the Steelers were desperately trying to catch up. A 19-yard touchdown pass from Wilson to Pat Freiermuth and a 54-yard field goal from Chris Boswell got Pittsburgh within two.   Despite getting the ball back after the 2-minute warning, the Steelers were unable to reach Cincinnati territory.   On fourth down, Wilson threw incomplete to Freiermuth and Burrow kneeled down to end the Bengals' season.

Despite a four-game losing streak, Pittsburgh will play next week.   If the Los Angeles Chargers lose at Las Vegas, the Steelers will be the fifth seed.   In the event the Chargers win, Pittsburgh will be the sixth seed and will face rival Baltimore in the first round.

For the Bengals to make the playoffs, the New York Jets must beat the Miami Dolphins or tie them, and the Kansas City Chiefs must beat the Denver Broncos.
