Viola Davis to Receive the 2025 Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes®
Los Angeles, California – November 20, 2024 – The Golden Globes® has officially announced that the acclaimed actress and producer Viola Davis will be honored with the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2025. This honor recognizes her remarkable contributions to the film industry and her unparalleled talent, which has captivated audiences worldwide.
Viola Davis is no stranger to accolades, having won her first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in 2017 for her powerful performance in the film adaptation of August Wilson’s Fences, where she starred alongside another Cecil B. DeMille Award recipient, Denzel Washington. With this upcoming recognition, Davis will join the ranks of 69 previous honorees of the Cecil B. DeMille Award, which has celebrated legendary figures in Hollywood since its inception in 1952, including icons like Walt Disney, Sidney Poitier, and Oprah Winfrey.
