Urban Meyer felt like Andre Cisco was the perfect fit for the Jags
Jacksonville, FL- Andre Cisco was on the board at 65th pick and the Jaguars decided that they were going to get him.
Cisco and Jacksonville was a match made in heaven. The Jags wanted to grab someone that could be a threat on the defensive side of the ball and that has always been Cisco. In his first two years at Syracuse, he became a locked down safety. He had 12 interceptions and was on the move to have a great season in 2020. However, injuries kept him from having a great junior year.
Meyer was excited that Cisco landed to the Jags and felt like he could help out the team. In a press conference this is what Meyer had to say about Cisco. "Well, I tell you what, he’s a guy we just all fell in love with. Before that injury, I had Malik Hooker at Ohio State and he’s the best overlap player I thought in the draft. We used to call Reggie Nelson the eraser, he makes a lot of things right. Best ball skills we felt in the back end of the draft. We had a couple incredible Zoom calls with him. Great background, great character and if he wasn’t injured, I think that was a value pick. We’re real pleased with that.”
The Jags' defense last season had its up and down, but getting a safety like Cisco could help improve their defense, if he can stay healthy.
