UNC stops St.Peters Cinderella story and will face Duke in the Final Four, 69-49

The hunger for UNC to return to the Final Four was very evident throughout the weekend, as they prepared for Saint Peters. They had a long journey to get to the elite eight and felt disrespected that fans around the nation did not have them as a favorite to win it all when the tournament started. However, a team that nobody saw in the fight for a Final Four spot used the underdog mentality to get to where they are at now. Saint Peters used the "Why Not Us" theme and played some good ball throughout the tournament to upset teams and brackets. Both teams had something to prove and left everything out on the floor in tonight's match-up.

Carolina started out the game on a blistering 12-5 run and forced the Peacocks to shoot out of rhythm shots, which is usually not their style. They like to spread the floor with inside to out passes, which opens up great chances to knock down wide open shots. St.Peters went 3 out of 15 from the field at the 10 minute mark in the first half. The massacre continued by UNC, which stomped the confidence out of the Cinderella team. UNC had complete control of the game at the end of the first half, 38-19.

The second half was all UNC. St. Peters attempted to try to make a comeback, but too much length and second chance plays on the board led to easy points for North Carolina. The Tarheels poured it on and held the Peacocks to 26% shooting from the field. It was just an all-around effort on both sides of the floor and they earned themselves another trip to a Final Four.
