UCONN defeated in thriller against USC 72-70
The young superstars in Juju Watkins and Paige Bueckers showed out in a head-to-head match-up that got the world talking.
In a potential march madness preview, Bueckers did not back down from the moment, but shined in the spotlight as she led her team to battle. If you didn't know about Bueckers' game, she is a DOG and very physical when she gets to her spots on the floor. For the first two quarters, she was quiet but erupted in the second half of the game, finishing out the game with 22 points and 3 boards. What helped the Huskies late was Sarah Strong who had the mid-range going. USC tried to double Strong and force the ball out of her hands, but her smart plays with finding the open shooter was the key late in the game.
The last few minutes of the game was a nailbiter, because both teams were exchange baskets. It came down to UCONN getting an opportunity to hit a game tying shot, but USC put the clamps on them to escape with a win. Watkins had a huge game herself in victory formation, soring 25 points and had 5 boards.
