U.S. soccer team stunned in loss to Sweden
Tokyo- In their first game of the 2020 Olympics, USWNT suffered their first loss to Sweden 3-0.
With the U.S. being the favorites to win Gold, it was a shock that they had a wake-up call on Wednesday against Sweden. Sweden took it to U.S. and made them look mortal. For the first time since 2016, the U.S. did not score in a game.
U.S. Soccer legend Megan Rapinoe was not happy at the outcome and had this to say about it. “You drop points in the beginning of the tournament, now you’re in sort of do-or-die mode,” Rapinoe said. “You’ve got to pick up points. Otherwise we’re going home real quick.” The U.S. is in some big trouble now since that decided to drop the 'bag.' They will have to play mistake free and defeat two of their teams in their conference to move forward. This is a do or die situation for Team USA and Rapinoe understands the challenge they face.
“I don’t remember the last time we gave up a goal,” Rapinoe said. “So, to give up three it not great. But it is what it is. Now we know exactly what we need to do. We need to win these games.”
