Travis Etienne feels like the Jags picked up the best running back in the 2021 NFL Draft
Jacksonville, FL- The Jaguars picked up running back Travis Etienne in the first round of the NFL Draft.
After drafting Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars wanted to get a running back that was well diverse with Urban Myers system, as well as a home run type of runner. They decided to pick up Etienne, who played with Lawrence at Clemson.
Etienne, who had 4,952 yards and 70 touchdowns in his college career was elated when the Jags called his number. Etienne stated that was the best thing that the Jags did and he knows that he has to go out there and show them why. Etienne talked about what separates him from others on the field during a press conference on Thursday.
"Just my ability to make plays on the field. I feel I was successful and very consistent throughout my years here at Clemson. I feel my work speaks for itself, and my ceiling I feel like haven’t reached where I’m able to get in my career, so I feel like I’m only getting better at this point. I feel like it was the best pick they could’ve made, honestly," said Etienne.
Etienne knows he has his work cut out for him with competing with Dare Ogunbowale, James Robinson, and Carlos Hyde for the starting running back role and he is not shying away from the competition.
Just getting another running back and a QB has sparked Jaguars' nation with optimism, hope, and potentially a playoff spot this season. It has been only one day in the books, but the Jags have gotten two crucial pieces they need in order to make this season memorable.
