The Tigers hang on in a win against Oklahoma

Patricia Scott

Thursday night, No. 7 LSU beat No. 13 Oklahoma 107-100 on the strength of a 37-point performance from Mikaylah Williams.  Flau’Jae Johnson added 25 points and Aneesah Morrow scored 21 for the Tigers.  After leading by 24 points in the third quarter, the Sooners rallied to make it a game.

Oklahoma scored 17 second half points off 11 turnovers, cutting LSU's lead twice in the final 1:35 to one point.  Payton Verhulst led the Sooners with 26 points. Raegan Beers had 20.

As a result of some shoving between LSU forward Sa'Myah Smith and Oklahoma forward Liz Scott midway through the first quarter of an extremely physical game, the two players were ejected.  The game also featured three technical fouls.

Williams' remarkable 37-point performance was a standout display of skill and leadership, propelling LSU to victory. Her ability to dominate on the court not only secured the win but also showcased her potential as a key player for the team's future success.

This trio of Johnson, Williams, and Morrow is very dangerous and capable of leading the Tigers to another National Championship.
