The Lions roared over the Broncos 42-17.

Jared Goff was 24 of 34 for 278 yards, throwing five touchdown passes for the first time since 2018 when he played for the Rams. Three touchdowns went to rookie tight end Sam LaPorta. In addition to Amon-Ra St. Brown's seven catches for 112 yards and a touchdown, rookie Jahmyr Gibbs also scored.

It was a strong running game for the Lions, with Gibbs and David Montgomery combining for 185 yards on 27 carries and a touchdown for the team. Gibbs' 12-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter put them ahead 35-10. Goff and the Lions lost two of three. In the previous four games, the veteran quarterback turned the ball over eight times. When asked about the team's struggles in the last few games Goff said, "We've been through a lot of adversity as a group and a three-game lull is not the worst thing we’ve been through."

Denver's hopes of making the playoffs for the first time since 2015 have been dashed. In its past seven games, Denver (7-7) had won six of seven to pull within a game of Kansas City (7-7) in the AFC West. But was dominated in this game.

The NFC North-leading Lions (10-4) could clinch a spot in the postseason for the first time since the 2016 season if other results go their way the rest of Week 15. The simplest scenario would be a loss or a tie between Seattle and Philadelphia on Monday night. If Detroit wins a division title for the first time since 1993, it will host a playoff game. The Lions have only had one playoff victory since 1957.
