The Aces could not cool down the Storm, as they suffer their first loss of the season 97-83

Las Vegas- The Aces were defeated by the Storm 97-83.

After getting swept by the Seattle Storm last year in the Finals, the Las Vegas Aces wanted to send a message in the season opener against the Storm. In the first half, Liz Cambage and Aja Wilson caused a lot of havoc. Both players were having their way with the Storm's smaller line-up early on and combined for 26 points in the half.

However, after having a good first quarter, the Aces went cold and allowed Seattle to go on a 10-2 run early in the second to take the lead, as well as momentum. Turnovers, as well as bad shot selection took the Aces out of the game for awhile. In a blur, Seattle went up double digits and it looked like the Aces were in trouble until Cambage hit a couple of buckets to spring a run.

With under two minutes left in the half, the Aces put together a 8-0 run to cut the Storm's lead to single digits. At the end of half, the Aces trailed the Storm 49-40.

At the start of the second half, the Aces had trouble stopping Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart. Las Vegas did not have an answer for the quickness of the Storm and they saw the Storm's lead jumped to 20.

Las Vegas cut the Storm's lead to single digits midway in the fourth, but could not get the stops that they needed to get back in the game. Las Vegas went on to lose their season opener 97-83

Wilson finished with 24 points

Cambage finished with 16 points
