What a week for A'ja Wilson. Last night she won an Espy award, she had her first career 20-20 game the day before and she was selected to be the cover athlete for one of the most popular basketball games NBA 2K and this week her team is undefeated with another big win tonight. What is the old saying about the rich getting richer?
Las Vegas Aces won for the ninth time in ten games, beating the Atlanta Dream 84-70 on Friday night in an event that Wilson scored 33 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, and Jackie Young added 19 points and six assists. This season, Wilson has scored 30-plus points seven times, which is a career high for her. In addition to that, she is tied with Phoenix's Brittney Griner in terms of the most WNBA games she has scored 25 points or more and racked up at least 10 rebounds. Also, Kelsey Plum had 15 points and seven assists for the Aces.
During the first half of the game, Wilson achieved her fourth consecutive double-double by scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Aside from that, she also had five blocks to move up to 12th on the career list for the WNBA.
With 17 points off the bench, Cheyenne Parker-Tyus led Atlanta with a strong performance. Tina Charles contributed 12 points and 12 rebounds to the team's performance, while Maya Caldwell scored 13 points. But the Aces were just too much for the Dream tonight.
