Team USAWB defeats France 93-82 to keep their Olympic streak going

Tokyo- Team USAWB extends their Olympic wins to 52.

The quest for Gold for Team USAWB was within their sight. They were 2-0 in group play and already put themselves in a spot for the knockout rounds. Team USA wanted to keep their momentum and 51 Olympic win streak in-tact against France.

With the first four minutes of the game, Team USA lost one of their key players. Dianna Taurasi left the game early with an apparent wrist injury. After Taurasi left the game, France went on a 9-4 run to jump in front of Team USA midway in the first quarter. Team USA looked sloppy, out of sync, and had trouble stopping France's bigs. Despite the slow start, Team USA was only down by three at the end of the first.

Breanna Stewart and Chelsea Gray started to get their offense flowing in the second. Both players got into the teeth of France's defense and was scoring at will. Stewart was steaming in the quarter. She finished with 14 points, all in the second.. Team USA finished out the half with a 50-44 lead.

The pace of the game slowed up slightly at the start of the second half. Team USA had some costly turnovers that kept France in the game. Team USA had trouble keeping Gabby Williams contained. Williams was everywhere on the floor! She was picking apart Gray on the offensive end and grabbed a couple of steals on the defensive end to help her team stay within striking distance of grabbing the lead. Team USA was clinging onto a five point lead at the end of the third.

Each time it seemed like France was going to take the lead in the fourth, Aja Wilson came up big. Big shot after big shot, Wilson carried Team USA. France kept fighting, but in the end it was too much Team USA.
