Team USAW wins Gold in a nail-bitter against France 67-66
With a chance to win another gold medal, Team USA would have to put the sleeping giant in France to sleep. The first half for the red, white, and blue was a struggle as they shot around 30% as a team and only put up 25 points in two quarters. Their paint general in Aja Wilson couldn't really get her engine going in the first two quarters.
The second half was a very tense and grind it out two quarters. Team USA had a little adversity that they faced as they had to climb out of hole in the third quarters. Wilson had a few blocks that sparked a 10-2 run to retake the lead.
Team USA struggled to finish lay-ups and that was a huge concern and key factor late in the game. Clinging onto a two-point lead, Team USA needed to find some way to get a stop on the defensive end. Wilson and Plum put the locks on the players that they were defending and forced a turnover to help Team USA win their eighth consecutive gold medal.
