Team USA scraps out a victory over Canada in a tune up game 86-72
With a stacked line-up, Team USA is the favorite to bring back Gold in the Olympics. Before they flew to Paris they had a tune-up game against Canada. For the most part, the game was very competitive and entertaining. Anthony Edwards had a lot of "talk" coming into the game, saying that he wanted to be the first option and yet again he did not disappoint. Ant-Man had 13 points coming off the bench and Anthony Davis scored 10 points and 11 rebounds.
We all understand that this was a tune-up game, but some of the rust was coming off. You can tell that the second half team USA started to hit that transitional button and went on a 14-6 sprint to open up the lead. Coach Steve Kerr talked about the rust and had this to say about it. "Good first game for us," Team USA coach Steve Kerr said. "We are just starting with four days of practice. You could see the rust on us offensively early. We had a lot of turnovers in the first half, [but] I loved the defensive intensity and the work on the glass. It was a good first effort on how we want to establish play moving forward."
Things are looking up for Team USA as they are heading to Paris. It will be interesting to see if they can build off that victory.
