Team USA makes a statement against South Sudan 103-86

After an impressive performance by Kevin Durant and Team USA in their first game in Paris, they had to look forward to South Sudan. In pre-Olympic play, South Sudan pushed Team USA to the brink of a potential upset and if it wasn't for the closer in LeBron James, Team USA would have lost that game.

In this match-up, Team USA got out to a very swift start. James and JT combined for six points in a speeding bullet of 90 seconds. The game was very competitive for the majority of the first quarter. Unlike the first game, Coach Steve Kerr played everyone, except Joel Embiid to see what matchups would be beneficial for them. Team USA's offense was rolling in the second and exploded to a 20-point lead. There was a scary moment for Team USA late in the second quarter. Anthony Davis tweaked his ankle after going for an offensive rebound. He exited the game after the incident but came back early in the second half.

Coach Kerr liked the way his team was attacking South Sudan on both sides of the ball. He wanted them to continue to put pressure on Sudan and not allow them to get into rhythm. Team USA had a scoring drought and South Sudan slowly chipped down at the lead to 11.

Anthony Edwards and D. White was like hold my beer and hit some big shots to extend their lead back up to 16 points at the end of the third. Things got a bit tense in the fourth as South Sudan was hanging around. However, Team USA went on a 15-6 run to close out the game.
