Suns pull pass Lakers in preseason play
LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, made history on Sunday night as the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game. This milestone occurred at the beginning of the second quarter during the Los Angeles Lakers' preseason matchup against the Phoenix Suns.
Phoenix struggled initially, tying the game at 18-18 before the Lakers seized control and never relinquished it. Los Angeles entered halftime with a 69-57 lead, fueled by impressive shooting (55.8%) and a significant advantage in the paint, scoring 44 points to Phoenix’s 13 and out-rebounding them 29 to 22.
Tyus Jones was the only Phoenix starter to see extended minutes into the second half, while Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura did the same for the Lakers. As the third quarter came to a close, the Suns made a push, narrowing L.A.'s lead to 92-85 heading into the final period. Midway through the fourth quarter, Phoenix regained the lead for the first time since the early moments of the game, thanks to a dunk from Josh Okogie that put them ahead 97-96.
The teams exchanged baskets in a tense finish, but the Suns ultimately claimed a 118-114 victory as the buzzer sounded.
