Sun Devil Men's Basketball Team Will Participate in Jerry Colangelo's Hall of Fame Series in Phoenix
Sun Devil Men's Basketball team is set to face off against Northwestern in Jerry Colangelo's Hall of Fame Series Phoenix. The event is organized by Position Sports in association with the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, will take place on December 20 at Phoenix's Footprint Center.
The matchup between these two formidable teams is expected to be a highlight of the event. The Hall of Fame Series is renowned for its collection of thrilling non-conference matchups, both domestically and internationally. The Phoenix edition, named after basketball executive Jerry Colangelo, is set to showcase top-tier collegiate basketball action.
An intriguing aspect of this event is both the Arizona State and Arizona men's basketball teams will play in Phoenix on the same day for the first time since 2001's Southwest Showdown. Previously known as America West Arena, the venue witnessed Arizona State's victory over Utah and Arizona's triumph against Illinois. This reunion of the two teams adds an extra layer of anticipation to the Hall of Fame Series Phoenix.
In addition to the Hall of Fame Series Phoenix, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has organized several other events, including the Hall of Fame Tip-Off, Hall of Fame Women's Showcase, and the Hall of Fame Classic.
Head Coach Bobby Hurley of the Arizona State Men's Basketball team expressed his enthusiasm for participating in the Colangelo Classic. He acknowledged the immense contributions made by Jerry Colangelo to the sport of basketball, making it an honor for the team to be part of an event that supports Colangelo's legacy.
This event will be particularly special as it marks the first time all four teams, including both men's and women's basketball teams from Arizona State and Arizona, will play at the same location on the same day.
