Spring Training has started for the Tigers
The Tigers begins its 128th season of competition this weekend with spring training. From Feb. 14-16, the Tigers will play in the Shriners Children's College Showdown at Arlington, Texas. The Tigers are in their third season under Coach Erik Bakich, who has guided them to 88 victories, which is 11th most in the nation during that time.
In 2023 and 2024, Clemson was one of only six programs to win 44+ games. As part of Bakich's tenure, the Tigers hosted regional games in 2023 and 2024, one of only five schools in the nation to do so. Since 2023, he has also had the highest winning percentage against ACC teams with 68.2. There are two 2024 All-Americans returning to the Tigers, including junior outfielder Cam Cannarella. In 117 games, he has 18 home runs, 107 RBIs, and 24 steals. According to D1Baseball, he is the No. 4 college prospect for the 2025 draft.
The other returning All-American is sophomore Aidan Knaak. In 2024, the righthander had one of the best seasons by a Tiger freshman pitcher. The NCBWA named him National Freshman Pitcher-of-the-Year in 2024 after he went 5-1 with a 3.35 ERA and 108 strikeouts against 29 walks.Clemson's expectations for the upcoming season are high, as they look to build on their recent success under Coach Bakich. With key players like Cam Cannarella and Aidan Knaak returning, the Tigers are poised to be strong contenders in both the ACC and national tournaments. The team hopes to leverage their depth and experience to make a deep postseason run and potentially secure a spot in the College World Series.
