South Carolina women's basketball: Gamecocks sell out season tickets in quest to set the all-time attendance record
The Gamecocks have consistently been one of the most dominant forces in women's college basketball, making it to multiple Final Fours over the past few years. Under the leadership of Coach Dawn Staley, they secured a national championship and maintained a top ranking in the NCAA. Their impressive performance on the court has undoubtedly contributed to the excitement and support from their fan base.
For the first time in the history of the program, South Carolina has sold out all of its season tickets. The fact that the program has led the nation in attendance for the past decade is no small accomplishment for the program. South Carolina is now aiming for the all-time attendance record.
Last season, South Carolina had 16,067 average attendances. It was the second highest ever, trailing only the 16,565 recorded by the 1998-99 Tennessee Lady Vols. South Carolina has sold out Colonial Life Arena 14 times, with the first being in 2016. There were two in 2020 and 2023, and then five last seasons. South Carolina has led the nation in attendance every season since 2014-15, when the average attendance was 12,293. The previous record was 14,364 in 2015-16. With Coach Staley and the girls gearing up for championship number four, that attendance record is sure to be shattered in the near future
