South Carolina continues to roll despite not having their star player

In their last game, junior forward Ashlyn Watkins suffered a season-ending injury, but the Gamecocks dominated the Aggies with smothering defense.  Texas A&M shot a mere 20% in the first half, as South Carolina built a 20-point lead, and finished at 29%.

With 19 points and 10 rebounds, super freshman Joyce Edwards recorded her seventh double-double.   Midway through the third quarter, the Gamecocks led by 30 points.   With Watkins out, they used the opportunity to audition replacements, such as Maryam Dauda, who played nine minutes in some of her longest play of the season.

Joyce Edwards' performance was crucial for the Gamecocks, as it demonstrated her ability to step up in the absence of key players like Watkins. Her consistent scoring and rebounding not only contributed to the team's dominant victory but also showcased her potential to be a reliable force throughout the season. With her seventh double-double, Edwards has proven to be an emerging star, providing South Carolina with a promising future.

Beginning on Sunday, the Gamecocks will play five straight teams ranked among the country's top 18.   Texas, LSU, and Oklahoma are among the top 10
