South Carolina continues their winning streak

On Sunday, No. 2 South Carolina defeated No. 5 Texas 67-50 at Colonial Life Arena in front of a sold-out crowd of 18,000 with 11 points each from Te-Hina Paopao and Chloe Kitts.  Joyce Edwards added 10 points for the Gamecocks.  With 13 wins against Division I teams with winning records, they became the only team in the nation to do so.   With eight points and 10 rebounds, Raven Johnson helped coach Dawn Staley improve to 14-3 against Texas coach Vic Shaefer.

Texas was led by Kyla Oldacare's 11 points and 16 rebounds.   Madison Booker, a preseason All-American guard, had seven points on 3-of-19 shooting for the Longhorns, who snapped a nine-game winning streak.  The sophomore guard averaged 15.3 points per game. The Gamecocks clamped her down today.

South Carolina shot 71% from the field in the first half to build a 39-22 lead. Booker was held to 1-of-14 shooting.  Booker struggled to get anything to fall, but the Gamecocks couldn't miss.

Shooting 71% from the field in the first half is an impressive feat and played a key role in South Carolina's ability to build a substantial lead early in the game. This high shooting percentage underscores their offensive efficiency and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities. It set the tone for the rest of the game, putting Texas on the back foot and contributing to South Carolina's decisive victory.
