SMU’s Osborne selected to Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List

The 2024 Outland Trophy preseason watch list was released today by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).  The award is given to the best interior lineman in college football for the previous season and presented at The Home Depot College Football Awards event live on ESPN on December 12, 2024.  Joining the list of 75 returning standout interior linemen is SMU’s center, Justin Osborne. 

The anchor of the Mustang’s line had demonstrated tremendous consistency during his four years starting 42 games and has been named a two-time all-conference selected player.  Osborne contributed in 2023 that saw an offensive line ending the year ranked in the top 20 in FBS for scoring (8th), sacks allowed (13th), and total offense (16th).  The stellar play named him an All-AAC first-team selection and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football (DCTF) All-Texas First Team.  SMU now plays in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and Osborne is sure to be considered for all conference honors at the end of the season.
