SMU Football: McGill named to Allstate AFCA Good Works Teams
Jonathan McGill, SMU Football graduate student, was named to the 2024 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team in a release by the Wuerffel Foundation and Allstate. The award honors a student-athlete who is inspired to serve others and make a positive impact on society. Ultimately, the honor awards student-athletes that hold a high impact on community service. McGill has been a vital part of the community as well as an impact on the field. In his debut season for SMU, McGill was named a team captain and named third-team All-AAC selection and first-team member for Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. McGill has been a keynote speaker at Coppell High School where he attended. He’s also been involved with the athletic leadership council where he has become an effective leader attending Stanford and now SMU. McGill volunteered at S.S. Dillow Elementary in Ft. Worth giving perspective and guidance to give the best chance to thrive in a new setting. The trophy is named after Heisman Trophy winner and College Football Hall of Famer Danny Wuerffel, who was awarded for commitment to inspiring greater service and unity in the world.
