SMU Football Alumnus Courtland Sutton makes major contribution
The SMU Department of Athletics is pleased to announce a $300,000 gift from former football student-athlete Courtland Sutton and The Sutton Family Foundation to benefit the Life After Ball Program and name The Sutton Family Foundation Professional Development Series. The Life After Ball Program has offered hundreds of SMU student-athletes career preparedness and networking opportunities with a goal of 100% career placement upon graduation.
L.A.B. offers a variety of career coaching opportunities including partnering with professional development consultants like Evan Burk, SMU alumnus and author of Finding Intangibles. Courtland Sutton is a beloved member of the SMU family and community. “Courtland was an outstanding student-athlete in every facet during his time at SMU. To have his name on a significant part of our Life After Ball program is very special,” Lisa Rawlins, Associate AD for Student-Athlete Success gracefully stated. Courtland Sutton has gone on to the NFL and has become a Pro Bowl wide receiver for the Denver Broncos and has incorporated his success to giving back to his alma-mater where he polished his skillset preparing himself for the NFL. Sutton will always be regarded as one of the best to ever play at SMU, in addition will now be referred to as one of the major contributors to the future success of scholar-athletes.
