SMU Brashard Smith named Second Team All-American by AFCA
The AFCA FBS Coaches have named SMU running back Brashard Smith to Second Team All-American for this past season. Smith impressively accumulated 1,814 all-purpose yards which is 29 yards shy of the SMU record set by Arthur Whittington in 1976. In the program’s history, Smith has become just the 12th 1,000-yard rusher while adding 35 receptions for 303 yards and four touchdowns. Brashard becomes one of only two players nationally that has had over 1,200 rushing yards and 303 receiving yards. Smith was a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award and was announced as a First Team All-ACC player that has helped SMU reach the College Football Playoffs for the first time in the school's history.
