Serena Williams withdraws from French Open due to a lingering injury
New York- Serena Williams decided to withdraw from the French Open because of a lingering injury to her achilles tendon.
Williams was supposed to face off with Tsvetana Pironkova in the second round in the French Open, but after warming up, she felt like something was wrong. Williams consulted with her coach and told him about the situation and how she was feeling after warming up. He told Williams to do what was in her best interest.
Williams suffered the injury in the semi finals of the US Open and has not looked the same since. It is more than likely that Williams will not be playing in any more tournaments this year, so she could heal from her injury. “I think the achilles is an injury you really don't want to play with. It’s not good if it gets worse. I don’t want it to get to that point," said Williams.
