Ruth Carter will be honored and recognized, as she gets her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Los Angeles- Costume Designer Ruth Carter will be enshrined with her own star for her legendary career that she has put together.



With a legendary career that started in 1986, Carter has defined all of the odds and obstacles to become one of the top costume designer in the entertainment industry. On Thursday, Carter will break history with becoming the first African American costume designer to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.


In 2019, Carter became the first African American to win Golden Globe for Best Costume Design for Black Panther. Carter has worked in some iconic movies such as Selma, Coming To America,” and “Malcom X.” She was praised for her unique style and looks from not just these movies, but others.


Carter knows that there is still work to be done in the industry, but hopes that women can see her work as an inspiration.
