Road to Kentucky starts now

Today, a lot of horse enthusiasts were paying attention to the Grade 2 Risen Star race at the Fair Grounds. There was much more than pride on the line as the winner of the race would capture 50 points towards the qualifying match in May.

There will be seven races in the series, kicking off March 22 with the Jeff Ruby Stakes at Turfway Park and Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds — will award 100 points to the winner and 50 to the runner-up. The championship series will continue its course through April, before the big race in Kentucky in May. It will be interesting to see what horse everyone will be betting g on in the upcoming moth.
