Rangers win their first World Series
Going into Game 6, the Rangers were feeling pretty confident that they could close out the series and win their first World Series in franchise history. As we have seen, if you give the Rangers' confidence, they will feed off of that energy and make key plays down the stretch to pull out victories.
Nathan Eovaldi needed to have a great pitching night and wanted to send a message to Arizona. He did just that in the first few innings as the D- Backs had runners on base but the Rangers defense in the outfield stopped any runs. Heading into the third, Arizona went 0 for 5 with runners on bases. If you were a fan of defense, both of these teams were not given an inch to big plays that could lead to runs. Each time, the D-Backs loaded the bases, Eovaldi hit the kill switch and got his team out of a jam.
Eovaldi ended his night in the seventh. The Rangers finish got their offense going in the seventh, as Corey Segar scored the first run of the night. Texas looked like they could do more, but Arizona got themselves out of a jam. Texas scored four more runs as they went on to seal the deal and went on to win their first World Series, 5-0.
