Rangers take Game 1 of ALCS
The battle of Texas for pride and a trip to the World Series started on Sunday between the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros. The Rangers got on the board first with Jonah Heim hitting a single to center field to spring Evan Carter for the score and a couple innings later Leody Taveras hit a home run to put the Rangers up 2-0.
Let's talk about Jordan Montgomery and his superb pitching. He didn't allow a single home run in this game and was in laser focused mode, to put his team in the right direction of a win. After the Rangers picked up a win in Game 1, Houston was asked how you stop this offense, and this was their reaction. "The problem that presents is that a lineup like that is so deep that you can't focus on a pocket of hitters and say if I don't let them beat me, I'll be good," Verlander said. "Every one of their guys has the opportunity to beat you. You've got to be on your game 1 through 9. And if you're not, they'll make you pay."
