Rams win in wild ending against the 49ers 27-24
After losing a couple key players in the last two weeks, Matthew Stafford and crew wanted to somehow build some confidence and momentum going against the 49ers. For the most part, the Rams' offense looked like they had to dig themselves out of the graveyard as the 9ers put them in a 14-0 hole early on. LA responded by tacking on a touchdown in the second quarter, which turned into a momentum boost for the team.
Let's speed it up to the fourth quarter with the Rams trailing 24-17. With under three minutes left, the Rams got a huge break as the 9ers missed a field goal to ice the game. It took only one play in which Stafford threw a 50-yard bomb to his receiver Tutu Alwell to put LA in position to tie up the game at the five-yard line. Two plays later, the Rams capitalized off the missed field goal and tied the game up with a touchdown.
Despite the Rams' touchdown, their defense needed to get some stops and keep the 49ers from getting into field goal position. They did just that and made things very interesting with only 50 ticks left in regulation to see if they could win the game. The Rams' special teams did just that. They got a 45-yard run back and a play later they were in field goal range after the 49ers were tagged with a PI. LA won with the go-ahead field goal 27-24. Stafford finished 16 of 26 for 221 yards and 1 touchdown
