RAMS FALL TO TEXANS 17-15 IN FINAL PRESEASON GAME

The LAR traveled to Texas to take on the up-and-coming Houston Texans.  This being the final preseason game, it provided an opportunity for Los Angeles to take a long look at QB Dresser Winn (9/16, 72 Yds), amongst other bubble players, before Tuesday’s .53-man roster deadline.

Several Ram players (Xavier Smith & Zach Evans) made plays, in hopes of making the Rams 53-man squad or making an impression on one of the other 31 NFL Teams, in hopes of landing a roster spot.

The Rams started the scoring by capitalizing on a muffed punt by the Texans.  LA took a 3-0 lead.  The Texans tied the game at 3 on a 48 yd. FG with 5:02 left in the 1st Qtr.  Houston went ahead 10-3 in the 2nd on a 5 yd. pass from T. Boyle to T. Harrison.  Late in the 2nd Qtr. Z Evans scored on a 4 yd. run.  PAT failed; Rams trailed 10-9 with 7:10 left in the half.  There was no scoring in the 3rd Qtr.  With 14:13 on the clock, J. Johnson caught a 10 yd. pass from T. Boyle, putting Houston up 17-9.  LA had a chance to win the game and go 3-0 in preseason as Z. Evans scored on a 3 yd. run with 3:15 left in the 4th Qtr.  Evans’ TD made the Score 15-17 Texans.  The Rams attempted a go ahead two-point conversion, which failed, as Z Evans was tackled short of the goal line.
