President Biden honors victims of the Robb Elementary School shooting
Washington D.C.- On Tuesday, 18 children and three adults were killed in a mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
Earlier in the morning, an 18 year old man opened fired at Robb Elementary School, killing 21 individuals and was fatally killed by law enforcement. After the incident happened, authorities, as well as Governor Greg Abbotott briefed the nation about the situation.
"It is believed that he abandoned his vehicle, then entered into the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde with a handgun, and he may have also had a rifle," Abbott stated. "The investigation is leading to tell us the suspect did act alone during this heinous crime," Pete Arredondo, the chief of police for the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District, said.
After hearing the news of the tragedy, President Biden decided to issue a press conference to talk about the shooting and how the nation will honor those victims." As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on May 24, 2022, by a gunman at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, May 28, 2022. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations."
