Orlando Magic Sign Free Agent Alex Morales

The Orlando Magic have made a notable addition to their roster by signing free agent guard Alex Morales, as announced by President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman. The terms of the deal were not disclosed per team policy. As part of this roster adjustment, the Magic have waived center Robert Baker II.


Standing at 6’6” and weighing 195 pounds, Morales brings a versatile skill set to the Magic. Last season, he played 34 games with Osceola in the NBA G League, starting in nine of those appearances. During his time on the court, he averaged 9.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.26 steals per game, demonstrating his ability to contribute on both ends of the floor while shooting an impressive 52.3% from the field.


Despite going undrafted, Morales has built a solid foundation in the G League, totaling 64 career games with Osceola (formerly Lakeland). Over these games, he has averaged 8.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.22 steals in 23.5 minutes per game, shooting 50.9% overall.

Before his G League success, Morales had a standout collegiate career at Wagner College from 2019 to 2022. In 74 games (71 starts), he showcased his scoring and defensive prowess, averaging 15.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.51 steals per game over 33.1 minutes. His exceptional performance earned him recognition as the Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in both the 2021-22 and 2020-21 seasons.

Additionally, Morales began his collegiate journey at Prince George’s Community College in Maryland during the 2018-19 season.


As he joins the Orlando Magic, Morales will wear jersey number 11. His addition is expected to enhance the team's depth and versatility as they look to build on their performance in the upcoming season.
