Numbers have increased for WWE NXT

The numbers are in and WWE NXT was a hit on its new network the CW. NXT’s debut episode averaged 895,000 viewers from 8-10 p.m. That is up 44% compared to last week’s episode, which aired on USA Network. Viewership peaked between 8:15 and 8:30 with 965,000 viewers. October 3rd’s episode was also the number one telecast on CW this year among adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 with 406,000 viewers and 354,000 respectively. The viewership represented a 143% increase from CW’s usual Tuesday programming in that same time slot.

These numbers are extremely impressive considering NXT was on at the same time as the vice-presidential debate. For, the viewers who turned on NXT witnessed the crowning of a new NXT Mens champion as Trick Williams was able to beat his rival Ethan Page. CM Punk served as the special guest referee. Punk hit Page with a GTS as the show was going off the aire. The confetti rained down from the ceiling celebrating the new champion.

The show began with Roxanne Perez defending her women’s championship against Japanese superstar Guila. The match was extremely compelling until Cora Jade made her return helping her former friend Roxanne Perez maintain her belt. Other reasons the night was so successful was the co features of several WWE stars such as CM Punk, The Miz, Bianca Belaire and Jade Cargil.

This coming week NXT looks to continue the momentum from St Louis when hometown hero and WWE legend Randy Orton faces NXT rising star Jevon Evans. WWE has been having an extremely hot year and looks to carry that momentum even more going forward.
