After being down two possessions, things got a bit interesting in the fourth quarter for Notre Dame. For majority of the game, Notre Dame struggled to get their offense, but midway in the fourth, Riley Leonard got into tunnel vision and marched his team down the field and threw two touchdowns to put Ohio State on their heels. With momentum switching to Notre Dame's side, Ohio State did not bat an eye with under two minutes left regulation. Will Howard threw a 45- bomb to put the Buckeyes in position to put points on the board and put Notre Dame out of its misery.

With only a hope and a prayer for something to happen, time ran out on Notre Dame as Ohio State kicked a field goal to win the National title. Leonard finished the game 17 of 21 for 231 yards and 2 touchdowns.
