Noami Osaka could not complete the comeback in the second set and was defeated by Karolina Muchova

After having one of her best matches of the season, Naomi Osaka wanted to take that momentum in the next match against Karolina Muchova. Prior to the match, a lot of people felt like this would be an even match and Osaka would have to play her best in order to advance to the next round.

Osaka was pretty sharp early on in the first set. Her serves were on point and not that many mistakes as she had Muchova on her heels with hitting her long shots. After the seventh game, Osaka faced a little adversity as Muchova won two consecutive games to take the lead. Muchova surprised Osaka with the backhand slices, which won her those games. Muchova went on to win the last two games to take the first set 6-3.

Osaka was indecisive early in the second set with going long or trying to play Muchova's game. She got herself back in the game after the fourth game in the set. It seemed Osaka's confidence was growing, but it was short lived as Muchova's shots on net was impeccable. Each time it seemed like Osaka would gain some momentum, Muchova would surprise Osaka with a net shot and win the game. As we know, there is no quit in Osaka. Osaka won three of the last games to force a tie breaker in the second set but lost the Tie Breaker 7-6.
