Night 1 of the WWE draft proved to be a game changer

The WWE draft has long been known as where the very core of wrestling gets shaken.The annual tradition has been going on annually since 2016 (with the exception of last year) and has seen many surprising changes and call-ups from "WWE NXT.”. This year’s draft is especially critical per the announcement of HHH the Raw brand will crown their very own exclusive new champion. The new champion will be crowned at Night of Champions and a pre-tournament will determine the new champ. Since Smackdown was able to retain current Undisputed Champion Roman Reigns, that brand will keep him with his belts. The new rosters won’t go into effect until May 29th two days after Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. The draft picks were as follows.

Round One

• SmackDown selects Paul Heyman, Solo Sikoa, and Roman Reigns

• RAW selects Cody Rhodes

• SmackDown selects RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair

• RAW selects Becky Lynch

Round Two:

• SmackDown selects The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins)

• RAW selects Imperium (WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, and Giovanni Vinci)

• SmackDown selects WWE Hall of Famer

• RAW selects Matt Riddle

Round Three

• SmackDown selects Bobby Lashley

• RAW selects Drew McIntyre.

• SmackDown selects The OC (AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, and “Michin” Mia Yim).

• RAW selects The Miz

Round Four

• SmackDown selects Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai & IYO SKY)

• RAW selects Shinsuke Nakamura

• SmackDown selects NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn & Alba Fyre

• RAW selects NXT Women’s Champion Indi Hartwell

The rest of the picks will be made on Monday Night Raw. The biggest winners thus far are the NXT call-ups finally getting their opportunity at main roster stardom. NXT women’s champion Indi Hartwell will get the opportunity to reunite with her onscreen husband Dexter Lumis and it seems like her former faction “The Way” will be able to reunite. This draft is also a huge deal to any new Raw superstar such as Drew McIntyre or Shinsuke Nakamura; it means they will be able to challenge for the new championship. The stagnation of the current title carried by Roman Rheins has seemed to be problematic since no one has been able to beat Roman Rheins and with his lack of TV time these days it's hard to build other challengers. Compensatory picks will be made throughout today and as stated previously the draft will conclude Monday Night as the rest of the names not called on Smackdown will be up for grabs.
