New York evens the series

The two-time league MVP refused to allow the New York Liberty to lose again, despite the Minnesota Lynx making another run in the fourth quarter. Breanna Stewart led the Liberty with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and a WNBA Finals-record 7 steals. To help the Liberty beat the Lynx 80-66 on Sunday in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals.


It was similar to Game 1, in which New York built a double-digit lead only to lose it in the second half. This time they didn’t completely blow the league holding on to even the series 1-1. The series shifts to Minnesota for Game 3 on Wednesday night.Minnesota trailed by nine points early in the fourth but

got a bucket away 68-66 on Courtney Williams’ layup with 3:40 left in the game. New York clamped down on the Lynx and that was the last point Minnesota scored.



Napheesa Collier had 16 points and Williams added 15 for the Lynx. Betnijah Laney-Hamilton had 20 points and Jonquel Jones had 14 points and 9 rebounds for the Liberty.
