Mustangs rout Prairie View 69-0

SMU did not overlook Prairie View A&M whatsoever. The focus and talk around the SMU campus this past week was all business. They respected their opponent that had beaten a Texas Southern team in Week 1. The preparation was to ensure all facets of the game were playing at the highest level.

Quarterback Preston Stone had an elite performance Saturday throwing for five touchdowns, completing 15 of 20 passes for 300 yards. SMU’s top target, Roderick Daniels Jr., caught 3 passes and a total of 96 yards with 1 touchdown. On the ground, Camar Wheaton rushed for 75 yards on 16 carries for 1 touchdown. SMU accumulated 28 total first downs and totaled 566 yards. SMU totaled 69 points and impressively kept Prairie View off of the scoreboard including not allowing any field goals. SMU’s defense will now take the momentum of this game and apply it to the preparation for the battle of the iron skillet against Ft. Worth’s team, the TCU Horned Frogs next Saturday. SMU holds third place in the American Athletic Conference behind Rice University, and Memphis University.
