MLB to produce and distribute Arizona Diamondbacks games starting mid-July
The MLB has taken over production and distribution of all Arizona Diamondbacks locally distributed games starting today, July 18th for the Diamondbacks vs. Atlanta Braves game. Fans will have the option to watch on television or stream digitally, expanding the availability of the Arizona Diamondbacks games from approximately 930,000 homes to approximately 5.6 million homes in the Diamondbacks Home Television Territory.
Diamondbacks fans will now obtain a new direct-to-consumer streaming subscription for $19.99 per month or $54.99 for the rest of the season by registering with MLB.TV. MLB will be able to lift the blackout for Diamondbacks games that were previously distributed on Bally Sports Arizona. The Diamondbacks primary TV broadcasters Steve Berthiaume and Bob Brenly will continue to serve in their existing roles. MLB recently took over production and distribution for all San Diego Padres games and expanded the reach of over +189%. Since 2009, MLB has owned and operated MLB Network, which produced live games for all 15 seasons, has won 41 National Sports Emmy Awards across 13 different categories. Last season, baseball fans streamed more than 11 billion minutes of live baseball games on content on MLB.TV, which set a record for the service that is currently on pace to break again in 2023.
