Minneapolis will host first ever two-night WWE Summerslam in 2026

Minneapolis and the WWE have been in negotiations for well over a year to host a mega event. Before deciding to host 2026 Wrestlemania in Las Vegas Nevada the rumored destination was Minneapolis. However, WWE decided to make it up to the city by giving them a two-night Summerslam. SummerSlam 2026 will be held on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, 2026, at U.S. Bank Stadium, the home of the Minnesota Vikings. This will be the first WWE Premium Live Event in Minneapolis since 2019. It will also be WWE’s first stadium event in the city.

“U.S. Bank Stadium is an absolutely world-class venue, situated in a city with a rich wrestling history and an amazing fan base,” said Chris Legentil, WWE EVP, Talent Relations & Head of Communications. “We’re excited to bring two nights of SummerSlam to Minneapolis in 2026.”

“We are thrilled to welcome the WWE Universe to Minnesota for SummerSlam,” said Wendy Blackshaw, President and CEO of Minnesota Sports and Events. “We will make this summertime wrestling extravaganza accessible for fans of all ages. Through a variety of festivities and ancillary events in the Twin Cities and affordable tickets to the main events at U.S. Bank Stadium, this will be a SummerSlam for all.”

The two-night Summerslam format is a change from the usual one-night format with the idea that the WWE is looking to mirror the success of Wrestlemania. Especially if WWE ever takes Wrestlemania international to cities like London or Saudi Arabia. It gives WWE’s North American fans another Wrestlemania like show which truly makes Summerslam the biggest party of the summer.
