Michigan rolls past Iowa in a shutout 26-0
The Michigan Wolverines put up 26 points in a blowout victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes.
After Georgia was upset by Alabama, which shook up the playoff format for a chance to play for the National Championship, Michigan knew that they were in the driver seat of being one of the four teams in, if they defeated Iowa.
I guess Alabama's victory motivated Michigan, because they had one heck of a perfect game. On the defensive side of the ball, they held the Hawkeyes to 155 yards of total of yards and did not allow Addison Ostrenga to become a factor. Michigan made Deacon Hills' life miserable and put so much pressure on him that all he could do was throw more short passes, because his line was not holding up. JJ McCarthy was outstanding with slicing and dicing Iowa's offense. He finished 22 out of 33 for 147 yards.
After the victory, now the fate of Michigan lands at the feet of the committee. This year will be one of the toughest decisions that the committee will have to make. Michigan is likely to be either a 1 or 2 seed in the playoffs. Only time will tell.
