Mavs get a wakeup call in Game 1, 107-89

For the first since 2011, the Mavericks were back in the NBA Finals. There were so many storylines going into the game like Kyrie Irving's revenge tour with the Celtics or if Boston young superstars could finally piece together a winning series capped off with a ring. This game was must see television as the series started on Thursday.

The Mavericks wanted to get Irving and Luka Doncic early touches and get into rhythm early on. For the most part Irving was doing what he does best and that was making magical things happen for his teammates and himself. PJ Washington, who was a pivotal force in the inside for the Mavericks in the last series had to be a little conservative, because he had two tacky fouls in the first quarter.

Things went from blurry to straight out blackout for the Mavs. Kristaps Porzingis made his presence felt as soon as he entered the game. He went 6 out of 8 and finished the half with 18 on the offensive end and made life difficult for Dallas as they struggled to score over him. Porzingis was blocking everything in sight. I don't know what the C's ate, but they were eating the Mavericks up, going on a 25-9 sprint to finish out the half.

Dallas knew that they had a huge hole that they had to dig themselves out of. Irving and Doncic knew that they had to force the ball out of Porzingis' hand and force other players to shoot the ball. Irving and crew started to cut into the Celtics lead and got it to single digits in the third. Luka Magic was heating up. However, that would be short lived as JT and JB went on a torture chamber execution, let me hit these three pointers in your face and Boston went back up 20 at the end of the third.

Mavs did not have much effort with stopping the Big 3 in the fourth and went ton to drop Game 1.

Irving finished with 12, Luka finished with 30

JT finished with 16, JB finished with 22
