Lynx forces a winner take all game on Sunday

This year's WNBA Finals have been nothing short of an emotional roller coaster ride full of close finishes and big-time plays. Consequently, it's only fitting that one of the most thrilling championship series in recent memory will go the distance. There will be a winner-take-all showdown at Barclays Center on Sunday (8 p.m. ET, ESPN) as the Minnesota Lynx won Game 4 of the series 82-80 against the New York Liberty on Friday.

With 14 lead changes and 13 ties, Game 4 was something of a back-and-forth affair, instead of the historic comebacks that marked Games 1 and 3. During the course of the game, no team led by more than six points. The Lynx were led by guard Kayla McBride, who scored 19 points, while forward Napheesa Collier scored 14 points and grabbed nine boards for Minnesota on Friday night. Lynx starters all scored in double figures. Bridget Carleton and Alanna Smith each scored 12 points, with Courtney Williams adding 15 points and seven assists.

Jonquel Jones led the Liberty with 21 points and eight rebounds in the loss. Breanna Stewart followed up her 30-point performance from Wednesday with a total of 11 points and 11 rebounds in Game 4. Stewart struggled from the floor, shooting just 5-for-21 from the field.

With 18.1 seconds remaining, Minnesota's Williams missed a midrange shot to tie the game at 80-80. Lynx's Carleton rebounded the ball and went right back up, but was fouled by Liberty's Sabrina Ionescu, who backed into Carleton during the shot attempt. Carleton made both free throws with 2.0 seconds left to give Minnesota an 82-80 lead. Ionescu had another chance to win, but missed
