LSU remains unbeaten

Man, what a game on Thursday night.  No. 5 LSU remained unbeaten with a 94-88 comeback victory over Stanford following a season-high 32 points by Mikaylah Williams. She hit a game-tying jumper with 4.3 seconds left to send the game into overtime.

Williams also scored six of the Tigers’ 14 overtime points, including a shot-clock-beating 3-pointer with 38 seconds remaining that was the dagger.  LSU's reserve guard Kailyn Gilbert scored 25 points for the Tigers, and Flau'Jae Johnson had 21 points before fouling out with 1:05 left in overtime.

The Stanford Cardinal led for almost 38 minutes but couldn't finish: led by Nunu Agara's 29 points and 13 rebounds to lead the team.  In addition, Brooke Demetre added 19 points, Elena Bosgana added 16 points, and Jzaniya Harriel added 15 points.

The Tigers hadn’t played a team this season, strong, disciplined and fundamentally sound as Stanford and it showed. LSU didn’t have the speed to contain Stanford’s starting front line, which combined for 64 points and 21 rebounds.  It was not easy, but the Tigers stood on business and overcame adversity to remain undefeated

This victory solidified LSU's position as a top contender in WCBB, demonstrating their resilience and ability to perform under pressure.  By defeating a formidable opponent like Stanford, they exhibited the potential to dominate against high-caliber teams in the future.   Also, it gave them a boost of confidence as they continue their championship quest.
