LSU preview

Brandon Harley

The   no.  3 LSU Tigers And No.  2-seed NC State Wolfpack (28-6) heads into a Sweet 16 matchup on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET as the women's NCAA Tournament continues at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. It will be aired on ESPN.

This matchup showcases   all-American talent and some of the most explosive players in the country in this game. Both have recent Final Four experience, and each   can go to Tampa this April, where the national champion will be crowned. The Tigers defeated the Wolfpack 82-65 the day before Thanksgiving in a Bahamas tournament championship. Aneesah Morrow was dominant for LSU with 20 points and 15 boards as the Tigers pulled down 20 more rebounds than the Pack.

A trio of Flau'jae Johnson, Mikaylah Williams, and Morrow has led LSU to be one of the nation's top scorers, averaging 85 points per game.  They have the speed, length and athleticism to wear down their opponents, but NC State can match them.  The Wolfpack's Saniya Rivers-Aziaha James backcourt is one of the most dangerous in the tournament. When Zoe Brooks and Madison Hayes hit shots like they did in Round 2, the Wolfpack can score against anybody.

LSU will likely focus on leveraging their rebounding advantage again, aiming to control the boards and limit NC State's second-chance opportunities. Meanwhile, NC State may look to tighten their defense and focus on stopping Morrow, forcing LSU to rely on other players for scoring. Both teams will also aim to push the pace and capitalize on fast breaks to gain an edge.

Check it out, you won't wanna miss it.
