LSU advances to the next round

The Tigers trio is back! LSU set a school record for points in a women's NCAA Tournament game with a 103-48 win over San Diego State on Saturday night. Flau'Jae Johnson scored 22 points, Aneesah Morrow had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Mikaylah Williams added 13 points.
With all their healthy players on the court, the Tigers quickly established their dominance on both ends of the floor. LSU shot 59% in the first half and made six of its first 10 shots from deep. After that, the only question was how much the final margin would be. As a team, the Tigers shot 50% (36 of 72) for the game and finished 10 of 18 from the three-point line.
LSU will host No. 6 seed Florida State in a second-round game on Monday night. LSU's stars will enter that game without exerting themselves too heavily in their March Madness opener. Morrow's playing time was limited to 25 minutes and Johnson's to 22 minutes by Tigers coach Kim Mulkey.
The dominant victory and record-setting performance are likely to boost LSU's confidence as they advance in the tournament. Their key players have been well-rested and have shown their ability to perform efficiently following injuries, so the team is well-prepared for the next game. This momentum can be critical to maintaining their competitive edge against Florida State.
LSU hopes to advance to the third round of the NCAA Tournament for a third consecutive season, a streak that began during its national title campaign in 2023. The Tigers advanced to the Elite 8 last year but lost to Iowa.
