Liberty will be heading to the WNBA Finals

A WNBA three-peat won't happen this season. On Sunday, the New York Liberty defeated the Las Vegas Aces in a series that ended the Aces' quest for a third straight championship. In the WNBA Finals, which start Thursday, the Liberty will host the winner of Tuesday's decisive Game 5 between the Minnesota Lynx and Connecticut Sun.

A'ja Wilson had 19 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots to lead the Aces. Kelsey Plum scored 17 points and Tiffany Hayes had 11 points, joining Wilson in scoring in double figures. Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young combined for 11 points.

The Liberty defense held the league's highest-scoring team to a season-low 62 points on Sunday. The Liberty led by just two points entering the fourth quarter but outscored Las Vegas 23-11 in the final period to pull away. The Aces made just 32.8% of their shots, shooting 7 of 30 from the 3-point line. New York was clamped city in the second half holding Vegas to just 24 total was impressive. The Aces couldn't contend with a Liberty front line that dominated inside, outrebounding Las Vegas 48-27

Sabrina Ionescu snapped out of that horrible dream in game 3 and scored 22 points while getting help from Breanna Stewart, who had 19 points and 14 rebounds. The Aces didn't accomplish their ultimate goal this season as a team. However, individual A'ja Wilson had one of the greatest seasons ever for a WNBA player. Wilson did everything she could this season; she was unanimous MVP without question
