Lebron continues to beat father time

Eric Martinez

One simple question that NBA fans should always ask themselves is, ‘What can’t LeBron do?’  A tough contest for the Los Angeles Lakers coming into Saturday night’s matchup with the Sacramento Kings was a second of a back-to-back after defeating the Suns on Friday.  The Lakers head coach,

JJ Redick has been straight forward on expectations for his team and to play through the uncontrollable of an NBA schedule.  Los Angeles came out ready to play from tip-off and led at the end of the 1st and 2nd quarter heading into halftime 64 to 60.  It was a combination of ball movement and tough paint defense that was the difference in the game with the Lakers creating 14 turnovers and converting 25 points off the turnovers.  Both teams shot well from the field at 52.2% for the Lakers and 51.1% for the Kings.

The Lakers were able to make 21 of 24 three-pointers attempted (87.5%), but ultimately the x factor for the Lakers victory was the combination of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.  LeBron and Davis combined for 63 points in 72 minutes.  LeBron records his first triple-double of the season with 32 points adding 14 rebounds, and 10 assists.  Anthony Davis has started the season averaging 34.0 points per game which is tied for 1st in the NBA, 11.0 rebounds per game which is tied for 10th in the NBA.  Los Angeles starters Rui Hachimura, D’Angelo Russell, and Austin Reaves combined for 50 points and were complimentary to AD and LeBron.

The Kings starters all ended the game in double figures and had a 34-point third quarter, not before the Lakers had a 44-point outburst in the 4th quarter.  The Lakers now improve to 3-0 on the season and have not lost a game as of yet under new head coach JJ Redick.  A valiant effort from Kings’ Domantas Sabonis that also had a triple-double with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.  The Kings drop to 0-2 for the season and will host the Portland Trailblazers on Monday.  The Lakers open their five game road trip in Phoenix on Monday to play the Suns before traveling to Cleveland, Toronto, Detroit, and Memphis the next week and a half.
